All-State Festival
A division of Alabama Music Educators Association, the Alabama Orchestra Association strives to advance the standards of musical & educational achievement for orchestra students throughout the state of Alabama.
The Southeast District of the AOA will hold it's first Annual District Honors Orchestra Festival in the Cultural Arts Center, 909 South Saint Andrews Street, Dothan, AL 36303 with chair auditions on Friday, April 27th from 4:30 to 6:30 pm, with the Festival rehearsals on Saturday April 28th, and the concert will be on Sunday April 29th at 2:30 pm. in the Cultural Arts Center Auditorium. Mr. Clay McKinney, President of the AOA will be the guest conductor, with Mr. John Taylor, Director of Bands at Headland High School, Headland, A,l as the winds and percussion coordinator. This event is being sponsored by the Tri-State Community Orchestra, Dothan.
The Alabama Orchestra Association is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Lim is the winner of the annual composition contest. Her original work, The Remains of Truth, was premiered by the Festival Orchestra at the 2012 All-State Orchestra Festival held February 9-12, 2012. More information and audio is available here. We are now accepting entries for our 2013 competition. Deadline to receive scores is October 1, 2012.
